Vaandering
Mr. Vaandering is a principal of Morrow BioScience Ltd.
and has been with the firm for over 11 years. A professional engineer
by training, Mark provides overall project management for all programs.
Mr. Vaandering has been involved in mosquito management in British
Columbia since 1993.
Dirk Lewis
Mr. Lewis has a degree in Biology from UBC and has been working in
mosquito control since 1990. He gained extensive experience working
at and finally managing the (formerly) in-house mosquito control program
at the Fraser Valley Regional District. In 2004 he began work full
time with Morrow BioScience Ltd., assuming management
of several large mosquito management programs, including those for
both the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver Regional Districts.
Dirk continues to work closely with the BC Centre for Disease Control
and the Fraser Health Authority in preparing for the arrival of West
Nile Virus. He has given presentations on mosquito control in relation
to West Nile Virus to Regional Health Authorities and to several municipalities
across the Province. Mr. Lewis has an excellent understanding of intergovernmental
relations, funding, and policy-making.
Mr. Lewis is recognized as an authority in the field of mosquito management
in British Columbia.
Kendra Lewis
Ms. Lewis coordinates mosquito management programs in eastern British
Columbia for Morrow BioScience Ltd. Based in Cranbrook,
Ms. Lewis provides a thorough knowledge of mosquito control and a
talent for involving local residents in issues as they relate to management
programs in their areas. Kendra has been involved in mosquito management
since the mid 1990s and is personally responsible for the success
of several large programs in the region.
Mike Simpson
Mike Simpson has been working in mosquito management for several years
and has extensive experience ranging from fieldwork to program
supervision. Currently, he is managing the surveillance of public
lands for mosquito development sites with the potential to produce
mosquitoes known to vector West Nile Virus. This extensive process
included 3 regional districts in B.C., as well as several independent
local governments.
In addition, Mr. Simpson maintains the comprehensive Morrow
BioScience Ltd. geographic information system (GIS) database.
Mike's extensive study of geography and training in GIS and remote
sensing has proven indispensable in this work.

School
presentations are generally directed to students in grades three to
seven and are of approximately half an hour duration.
Depending on the age of the group, the presentations are altered to
make sure that the information is presented at the appropriate level.
